Furniture is the highlight of home decoration and a significant expense, making it a focal point for consumers. The key factors determining the quality of furniture are threefold: base material, finish, and edge banding.
The quality of edge banding determines the lifespan of furniture. Strictly applied edge banding not only enhances the aesthetics and smoothness of furniture but also effectively controls formaldehyde release from the board material, resulting in a more environmentally friendly product.
Typically, high-quality furniture features refined, smooth, and pleasant-to-the-touch edge banding, while inferior edge banding is more fragile and breaks easily. However, with varying edge banding techniques, how can one choose good furniture?
First, let's learn about edge banding.
Modern furniture edge banding is extruded using PVC resin, ABS resin, or acrylic as raw materials and then printed. It's a material used to protect, decorate, and beautify the cross-section of furniture boards, allowing a piece of furniture to showcase a clear wood grain and vibrant colors. Products are widely used in furniture, offices, kitchenware, educational equipment, and civilian laboratories.
Main types: Melamine edge banding, PVC edge banding, ABS edge banding, Acrylic edge banding, Wood veneer edge banding.
Common specifications: 0.45mm, 0.6mm, 0.8mm, 1mm, 1.5mm, 2mm, 3mm, etc.

Control the release of formaldehyde from the board material
How to judge the quality of edge banding
1. Hue and surface roughness of the edge banding. Good edge banding has a smooth surface, few bubbles, few pull lines, and moderate gloss;
2. Flatness of the surface and bottom of the edge banding; whether the thickness is uniform;
3. Whether the trimming and bending surface of the edge banding turns white, and whether the bottom color of the trimming is close to the surface color of the board;
4. Whether the strength is sufficient and whether it has elasticity;
5. Whether the adhesive is applied evenly, and whether it is easy to peel off during use;
6. Smell the edge banding for any unusual odor.
Our company uses PVC edge banding primarily from large-scale domestic manufacturers. The edge banding is of stable quality, its color is close to that of the board, and it uses high-quality, environmentally friendly, lead-free raw materials. The edge banding used for domestic products is of the same quality as that exported to the United States and Japan. Processed using imported German automatic edge banding machines, with shaped edge banding processed using a fully automatic processing center, resulting in quality far superior to most furniture on the market.
