What is Plywood?
Plywood, also known as laminated board or multi-layer board, is commonly called "multi-layer solid wood board" in the market. It is a plate-like material made of three or more layers bonded together with adhesives, using veneers rotary-cut from logs or thin wood sliced from timber. Usually, an odd number of veneers are used, with the fibers of adjacent layers perpendicular to each other.
Plywood's Processes and Applications
Plywood is one of the commonly used materials in furniture, and one of the three major types of engineered wood. It can also be used in airplanes, ships, trains, automobiles, home decoration, construction, and containers where plate materials are needed. A group of veneers is usually glued together with the grain direction of adjacent layers perpendicular to each other. Typically, the face veneers and inner veneers are symmetrically arranged on either side of the core layer or core. The veneer, after being coated with glue, is pressed into a board under heated or unheated conditions, with the wood grain arranged crisscross. The number of layers is generally odd, with a few exceptions of even numbers. The physical and mechanical properties in the longitudinal and transverse directions have less difference. Common types of plywood include three-ply and five-ply plywood. Plywood improves wood utilization and is a major way to conserve wood.
The conventional size of multi-layer plywood is 1220mm*2440mm. The thickness specifications mainly include 2.7, 3.0, 5, 9, 12, 15, 18mm, etc. (Production can also be customized according to needs). Generally, 3-layer plywood is 2.7-4mm; 5-layer is 5-12mm; 7-9 layer plywood is 9-18mm; 11-layer plywood is 12-30mm, etc.
Different thicknesses of plywood have different applications.
① 2.7/3.0mm: In decoration, it is mainly pasted on fine woodworking boards and used for processes such as mixing paint. It requires a flat surface and good bonding strength.
② 5.0/9.0mm: Can be used for the bottom or back panels of furniture. 9mm can also be used as the base board for door and window frames, as well as skirting boards and some shapes.
③ 12/15/18mm: Can be directly used to make furniture, etc.

4. During the production of plywood, sawdust is not easily produced. It can make reasonable and effective use of wood resources, greatly improving the utilization rate of wood.
